HI publishes a new report on the crisis of acess to healthcare in the West Bank
HI publishes a new report revealing a deepening healthcare crisis in the West Bank, where escalating violence and military operations have left persons with disabilities facing severe barriers to care. Since early 2025, 53 Palestinians - eight of them children - have been killed, with Jenin governorate hardest hit.
Medical facilities face closures, attacks, and military raids, leaving essential services disrupted. The World Health Organisation recorded 659 attacks on health missions by December 2024. Ambulances are blocked, healthcare workers detained, and patients left without care.
A May 2024 HI survey found that 63% of organizations report a sharp decline in healthcare access since October 7, 2023. The International Court of Justice also warned that Israeli policies in the West Bank violate anti-discrimination laws.
The report urges immediate action to protect healthcare access and uphold the rights of persons with disabilities.
