Humanity & Inclusion / Handicap International (HI) members mourn the death of their colleague Sabreen and three of her children on 2 November in Jabalia, where she was visiting her family.

Their building was bombed by the Israeli Defence Forces and collapsed on top of them. Two other children were with her, one of whom was injured. The bodies of Sabreen, her three children and her family are now under the rubble.

A mother of seven, Sabreen worked in Gaza City for HI as a community-based physical rehabilitation worker.

Our deepest condolences go out to her husband, her surviving children and all her loved ones. Today is our 4th colleague to lose his life with his family since 7 October 2023. Her sudden death is a great loss for our team.

At this time of profound sadness, our thoughts are with our colleagues in Gaza who are continuing their work unabated amidst the multiple displacements and bombardments.

For 13 months, HI has tirelessly denounced the way in which civilians suffer as a result of military action, with loss of life and the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools and essential infrastructure. This must stop.

HI continues to call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire. Every minute without a ceasefire prolongs the unnecessary suffering of the people of Gaza, and makes the need to end the trauma of war more urgent.
