HI teams are distributing food to families in Rutsiro districts during Covid-19
The Covid-19 epidemic has also had an impact on Rwanda, where HI has worked since 1994. The organisation has responded by adapting its activities in the areas where it operates. This week, HI’s teams continue to distribute food, so families have enough to eat during the lockdown. They also provide families with equipment to protect them from Covid-19.
HI has also distributed bags of flour to parents of children with disabilities in the Mahama refugee camp in Eastern Province to prevent malnutrition among these children, and to strengthen their immune systems. It also handed out food and protective masks to more than 330 families of people with epilepsy in Rubavu district at the end of May.
HI is an independent and impartial aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.
